This tennis competitor has certainly not lost his shadow. Copyright Mark B. Gibson/The Dalles Chronicle

Shooting tennis at the high school level is a mixed bag. Access is usually good, although you have to minimize any shifting about from place to place. As a result I sometimes have to wait for a time until the local player shifts back to the far court.

As I was waiting I noticed the shadows of the near player, and tried to capture an “action” shot of the shadow. This was the best, although I’ll be keeping an eye out for another opportunity… there were some shots that almost worked with the player (at least his feet) was in the air above the shadow.

I really like this shot. It is like a really cool oil painting.
