About the author
My name is Mark B. Gibson, I currently work as a photojournalist and writer at The Dalles Chronicle in The Dalles, Oregon. The genesis of this blog is a personal project I began in the fall, an “Ongoing Voyage of re-Discovery,” an intimate look at “The Big River,” the Columbia, primarily its middle portion from Bonneville Dam to Arlington, Oregon.
In addition, I plan to post articles once published in the Chronicle under my column “Kicking back,” as well as new work that has found no home in recent years. Themes or categories include photojournalism and newspapers, rural life and the great, and not-so-great, outdoors.

Good Job……..
Mark – have you read Robin Cody’s book on his canoe trip from the beginning of the Columbia River in Canada where he has one foot on each side of the river all the way to Astoria and the Pacific ocean? A great book! Good luck with your work – Joyce
I don’t think so, but I’m not sure. I’m working on a bibliography, so I can keep touch with and review the books I’ve read about the river. Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll be looking for it.
